Jimmy Four-Nicks the Burrunan Dolphin
ABOUT
This book is a narrative about the Burrunan dolphin, a new species found living in the Gippsland Lakes. The students were involved in a workshop with Dr Kate Charlton-Robb from the Australian Marine Mammal Conservation Foundation where they learnt about the Burrunan dolphin. Dr Kate was mentioned in this book.
Follow-up News
At the launch of this book in 2014, the students found out from Dr Kate that Jimmy Four Nicks was actually a girl as she was spotted with a new calf in the Gippsland Lakes. The students had a class competition to name the new dolphin and they called it “Finn” – suitable for a boy or girl.
